The Adrian College men's basketball team came up two points short against conference foe Alma on Saturday. The Bulldogs tied the game with 12 seconds left to play off a jumper from Desmond Young. Alma called a timeout with five seconds left on the game clock. Jordan Redditt hit a jumper as time expired to win the game 64-62.
Matt Wayne scored a game-high 20 points off 7-of-10 shooting from the floor. Young added 19 points in a losing effort.
Alma led by 12 points midway through the first half. The Bulldogs were able to pull within four points at halftime as Young sinked a three pointer at the buzzer.
The Scots shot well from the floor in the second half. They shot 58 percent from the floor, while Adrian was held to 43 percent.
Alma led 53-38 with 13 minutes left to play. Adrian closed the gap and tied the game at the 3:30 mark. The Scots held on to a slim lead with less than a minute to play. Young hit a jumper with 12 seconds to play, but Redditt won the game for Alma on a last second shot.
The Bulldogs will return to action with a match-up at Trine on Jan. 21st.
