The men's hockey team played another offensive-minded contest on Saturday with its third 10-plus goal game of the season with a 11-1 win over Minnesota-Crookston. The Bulldogs tied a conference record with their 27th straight regular season win dating back to last season. The mark ties a Marian squad which did the same during the 2000-01 to 2002-03 seasons. Adrian scored four goals in the opening period as once again it was Shawn Skelly who got the Bulldogs on the board at the 1:20 mark of the first for his 19th goal of the season. Mike Dahlinger added his ninth goal of the year at the 6:02 mark to give Adrian a 2-0 lead.
Chris Stansik made it 3-0 with a power play goal at 18:49 and Mike Leone scored 43 seconds later to put Adrian comfortably ahead after 20 minutes. Leone scored his second of the day unassisted at 1:09 of the second. Sam Kuzyk made it 6-0 just 13 seconds later at even strength for his fifth of the year. Stansik got his second goal of the game at 2:44 of the second on a 4-on-4 even strength.
Adrian led 9-0 after two periods and added two more in the third. Skelly and Kyle Watson each scored power play goals on a five-minute major penalty by Steve Tschirgi just 28 seconds apart. Adrian was 3-of-10 on the power play while Crookston went 0-of-5. Leone earned the first star of the game with two goals and two assists. He also had a +5 rating on the game. Skelly continued his national-leading point streak with two goals and two assists. Adrian outshot Crookston, 51-16, including a 20-8 edge in the second period. Adrian (15-1-1, 12-0 MCHA) got a 15-save performance by Brad Fogal who picked up his 14th win in net this season.
