ADRIAN, Mich. -
It was a fast-paced game on Friday night at Arrington Ice Arena and Adrian College was once again dominant in a 10-1 win over Northland in game one of the MCHA Tournament First Round. The big story was a six-goal onslaught in the third period as Adrian scored five of those goals in the final 8:29.
Drew Satterley, Kyle Watson, Sam Kuzyk and Shawn Skelly each had two goals for Adrian. The Bulldogs even scored two short-handed goals on the evening as Watson's first of the night made it 2-0 and Kuzyk's second of the night made it 9-1. Watson was named the game's first star as he also had an assist on the Bulldogs' seventh goal. Eric Miller had four assists, seven shots on goal and was a +3 for the game.
Adrian led 2-0 after the first period and 4-1 after two periods. Adam Krug notched his 20th goal of the season at 10:40 of the second period and Bobby Hineman scored his fifth of the year at 11:31 of the third to round out the goal scorers for AC. Skelly tallied two goals including one on the power play which gives him 20 power play goals. He now has 30 goals this season which leads Division III.
Jeremy Cross and Marc Stuart each split time in goal for Adrian. Cross played the first two periods and made eight saves improving to 2-0. Stuart played the final 20 minutes and made three saves. Daniel McIntosh made 47 saves for Northland who falls to 1-24-1 overall. Adrian has now won 23 straight games (24-1-1) and will face Northland tomorrow at 3:00 pm in game two of the first round series.
