Johnston Nets 10 Goals in Regular Season Finale at Trine

ANGOLA, Ind. - The regular season came to a close on Thursday at Trine for the women's lacrosse team with a 21-10 win against the Thunder. The team will now have to wait and see if they get an at-large bid into the NCAA Division III Championships. The team was ranked fourth this week in the West Regional rankings dropping one spot after a loss to Wooster. The field of 26 will be announced on Sunday, May 3 at www.ncaa.com.

Rachel Johnston scored 10 goals in the contest and ends her freshman regular season with a whopping 83 goals in 14 games. She currently ranks fourth in Division III in goals per game. Johnston scored six goals in the first half as Adrian built a 9-6 lead at intermission. Johnston added four goals in the second half as Adrian scored nine of the first 10 goals in the half to build an 18-7 lead with 12:58 remaining in the game.

Amanda Lambert was a complement to Johnston as she scored eight goals and ran her season total to 54 goals. Lambert five of her goals in the second half in a span of 15 minutes to start the second half. Adrian (10-4) outshot Trine by a total of 35-18 and had four free-position goals in six attempts.

Laura Finfrock and Amanda Faraone both shared time in goal for the Bulldogs. Faraone made three saves and Finfrock was credited with two saves. Amy Merson won 21 draw controls on the night and Andrea Soloko, Lindsey Day and Mariana DiGiovanni also scored one goal for Adrian.
