ADRIAN, Mich. - The Adrian College baseball team got a little bit of a wake-up call in game one against Calvin on Friday as the Knights claimed an 8-2 win and snapped AC's 17-game winning streak at Nicolay Field. Another streak fell as well as sophomore Ryan Domschot had won his first eight games of the season and took the loss (8-1) as he was trying to tie the single-season school record with his ninth win of the season. Domschot allowed three earned runs in the top of the first as the Knights came out swinging the bats to the tune of five hits against the southpaw.

The Knights added two runs in the fifth on a two-run homer by Tyler Berger which just curved inside the right field foul pole. Matt Schepel delivered the biggest blow with a three-run homer to center in the top of the seventh to give Calvin an 8-0 lead. Jake Cappelletty drilled his sixth homer of the season to right to lead off the bottom of the seventh and put Adrian on the board. Nate Sarkissian followed with a triple to right center and later scored in the inning on an RBI groundout by Joe Dubina.

Ben Sietsema improved to 6-1 for Calvin and allowed just four Adrian hits while walking one and striking out two. Domschot went seven innings and allowed nine hits. He also gave up six earned runs and walked two with seven strikeouts. Steve Vanderheyden hit a double and Andrew Anderson smacked a single in game one for Adrian.

In game two the offense was on display for both teams as Adrian won 11-8. The Bulldogs scored at least one run in every inning against Peter Steiner and Jeff Groenewold. Steiner surrendered 13 hits in four innings and allowed six earned runs before being relieved by Groenewold. He finished up the final two innings and allowed four hits while striking out two. Alex Webster got the win for Adrian improving to 6-1 on the season. He yielded 10 hits in five innings and walked two. Dan Welch did a great job in relief and earned the save. Welch's first save of the season saw him allow just one base runner in two innings.

Todd Meyers, Brian Bilius and Sarkissian all had three hits in game two for Adrian. Bilius went 3-for-3 with an RBI triple and three runs scored. Dubina and Anderson each had two RBI for the Bulldogs who collected six extra-base hits in game two. Adrian is now 24-8 overall and 18-2 in the MIAA.
