Box Score 2 DEFIANCE, Ohio – The Adrian College
volleyball team battled through a tough day on Saturday as they
were swept in a tri-match against Bethany College 3-2 (29-27,
25-14, 16-25, 21-25, 15-17) and Defiance College 3-0 (17-25, 20-25,
16-25). The Bulldogs are now 9-14 on the season and remain 3-8 in
the MIAA.
In the first match, the Bulldogs jumped out early winning the
first two sets, but could not hold on to the lead and the Bison's
battled back to win the next three. In the second match of the day,
the Yellow Jackets took an early lead in game one and never looked
back in their sweep of Adrian.
Rebecca
Tincknell, a senior, had a solid game against Bethany laying
down a team-high 14 kills to go along with six against Defiance.
Freshman Danielle
Bogedin had a solid day as she had a combined 18 kills.
Sophomore Stephanie
Holloman smashed 13 kills on the day. Fellow sophomore Kelly
MacDonald had 10 kills in the two games. Freshman Ashley
VanHouten led the Bulldogs with four blocks.
Leading the charge on the defensive side of the ball was senior
libero Jamie
Taylor who had 32 digs, including a match-high 12 against
Defiance. Getting in on the action was junior Roxanne
Duran who had 23 digs to go along with nine kills.
Helping the attackers was senior Katie
MacFarlan who had 41 assists for the day, while adding in 19
digs. Second on the team behind MacFarlan was freshman Kristy
DeClercq who had 17 assists.
Adrian will return to action on Friday, October 22 at 6:30 p.m.
as they host MIAA opponent Trine University.
