Box Score 3 DETROIT – The Adrian College volleyball
team participated in the Marygrove Quad on Saturday where they
dominated all three matches as they rolled to 3-0 for the day.
Adrian defeated Concordia (Mich.) 26-24, 25-17, 25-22; Rochester
(Mich.) 25-21, 25-22, 25-14; and Marygrove 25-20, 25-5, 25-22. With
the victories the Bulldogs have surpassed their win total from last
season and have now rattled off five consecutive wins, the most
since 2007.
Their first match of the day provided plenty of drama as they
Bulldogs trailed 24-16. However, the team refused to give in as
they rattled off 10 straight points to take the first set and the
match. The momentum carried throughout the day as Adrian didn't
lose a set the entire day.
Senior Rebecca
Tincknell led the team with 22 kills on the day, including
team-highs in all three matches. Tincknell was second on the team
with five blocks on the day. Tincknell hit an amazing .875 in the
match against Marygrove. Junior Roxanne
Duran was second on the tea with 15 kills for the day including
eight against Concordia. Duran also added in seven service aces and
40 digs in the three matches, including team-highs in digs against
Rochester and Concordia. Stephanie
Holloman, a sophomore, had 13 kills and a team-leading eight
blocks, including four against Rochester. Sophomore Kelly
MacDonald had kills of four, four and five to give her 13 on
the day. Freshman Danielle
Bogedin returned from injury as she put down 12 kills and four
blocks.
On the defensive side, senior Jamie
Taylor led all Bulldogs with 51 digs, including a season-high
24 against Marygrove. Freshman Kristi
Walker had 19 digs while adding in eight service aces, with a
season-high five against Marygrove.
Sophomore Kristy
DeClercq led the Bulldogs with 37 assists on the day, while
junior Joanna
Slisinger contributed with 29.
The volleyball team will return to MIAA action as they travel to
Olivet on Tuesday, October 5 at 6:30 pm.
