Box Score ADRIAN, Mich. – The Adrian College
volleyball team put up a tough fight against visiting MIAA opponent
Trine University, but it was not enough as the Thunder swept the
Bulldogs 3-0 (22-25, 21-25, 20-25). Adrian's record is now 9-15 on
the season and 3-8 in the MIAA.
Adrian worked a lead in the first match, up 18-14, but
consecutive kills by Trine tied the match at 18. The Thunder would
score seven of the next 11 and take the first set. The second set
had more drama as there were seven lead changes and 10 ties through
the match, but Trine would again make a late charge and win the
set. In the third set, the Bulldogs fell behind and were unable to
put together a run.
Junior Roxanne
Duran led the Bulldogs on both offensive and defensive with a
team-high seven kills and nine digs. Duran also dropped in two
service aces. Freshman Danielle
Bogedin was second on the team with six kills on the night.
Fellow freshman Ashley
VanHouten continues to be one of the top blocks in the MIAA as
she knocked down five blocks, including two solo to go along with
five kills. Sophomore Kelly
MacDonald and senior Rebecca
Tincknell each had four kills for the match. Tincknell also
dropped in two service aces.
Defensively, senior Jamie
Taylor had a solid performance with nine digs. Helping out the
offense was junior Joanna
Slisinger who led the team with 15 assists while getting eight
digs. Senior Katie
MacFarlan also added in with 13 assists.
The Bulldogs will go right back to work as they travel to eighth
ranked Hope College at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 23.
