Box Score OLIVET, Mich. – The Adrian College
volleyball team fought hard Tuesday, but Olivet College was able to
squeak out the victory 3-2 (25-19, 25-21, 19-25, 19-25, 14-16). The
Bulldogs record now sits at 9-8 on the season and 3-5 in the
MIAA.
The Bulldogs won the first two sets to jump out to an early
lead. The Comets came back to tie it at two sets apiece. In the
fifth set Adrian stormed out in front as they led 14-10, and needed
only one point for the win. Olivet fought back and scored six
consecutive points to take the set and the match.
The offense was led by senior Rebecca
Tincknell with 13 kills. Tincknell also stepped up on defense,
tying a team season-high with a match-high eight blocks while
adding in eight digs. Stephanie
Holloman, a sophomore, followed with seven kills and two
blocks. Freshman Ashley
VanHouten tied a season-high with five kills while knocking
down five blocks. Junior Roxanne
Duran provided a solid all-around game with five kills and a
team-high 21 digs while dropping in two service aces and two
blocks. Sophomore Kristy
DeClercq threw down a season-high four kills, tied a
season-high with nine digs, while adding in a team-high 29 assists.
Senior Jamie
Taylor played solid defense coming up with 17 digs.
The Bulldogs will return to action on Friday, October 8 as they
travel to #9 Calvin at 6:30 p.m.
