Box Score 2 ADRIAN, Mich. – The Adrian College
volleyball team fell in two tightly contested matches on Saturday
and the lost 3-1(13-25, 12-25, 27-25, 25-17) to Kalamazoo and
3-2(18-25, 25-21, 28-30, 25-20, 12-15) to Manchester. The Bulldogs
record is now 9-11 overall and 3-7 in the MIAA.
In the first match of the day, the Bulldogs feel behind early to
Kalamazoo before battling back to take the third set. The Hornets
were too much in the fourth set and they were able to hold off
Adrian. In the second match of the day, the Bulldogs and Spartans
battled back-and-forth trading wins each set. In all, there were 31
tie scores and 19 lead changes in the five sets.
On the day, sophomore Kelly
MacDonald led the Bulldogs with 18 kills including a
season-high 11 against Manchester. MacDonald added in 14 digs to go
along with three blocks and two aces. Rebecca
Tincknell, a senior, had 17 kills in the two matches and
getting 15 digs and knocking down four blocks. Fellow senior Beth
Donovan had a season-high 11 kills against Manchester and
finished the day with 15 kills, 10 digs, two aces and two blocks.
Freshman Ashley
VanHouten had a solid day as she had seven kills while smashing
down seven blocks. Stephanie
Holloman, a sophomore, had a big day as she led the team in
blocks with eight on the day, including a match-high six against
Manchester.
Senior Jamie
Taylor led the Bulldogs in digs with 36 for the two matches,
including a match-high 21 against Kalamazoo. Sophomore Kristy
DeClercq helped the defense with 26 digs and aiding the offense
with a team-high 31 assists. Junior Joanna
Slisinger was second on the team with 26 assists.
The Bulldogs will return to action on Wednesday, October 13 at
6:30 p.m. as they travel to Alma College.
