ASHLAND, Wis. - The men's hockey team went on the road for the first time this season on Friday (Nov. 12) and came away with a 5-3 win over Northland College in a MCHA contest. Sophomore Zach Graham (Palmerston, Ont.) tied a career-high with two goals as the Bulldogs will look to begin another conference win streak.
Northland led 1-0 after 20 minutes as Nathan Brown got the LumberJacks into the locker room with momentum. Adrian tied it 1-1 at 8:16 of the second period as senior Mike Dahlinger (Windsor, Ont.) scored at even strength with assists from Jordan Watts and Quinn Waller. Senior Brad Houston (Chatham, Ont.) scored a power play goal at 11:51 of the second to give Adrian a 2-1 lead. Sam Kuzyk and Dahlinger each had an assist on the goal.
Nick Hewko got his own power play goal at 13:14 of the second to tie it up with assists from Chad Moore and Shaun Newman. The second period ended with Adrian up 3-2 after Graham scored at even strength at 15:26 with assists from Eric Miller and Jeremy Klaver. Adrian held a 18-13 edge in shots on goal after 40 minutes.
Miller gave Adrian a 4-2 lead at 1:05 of the third period on the power play with assists from Shawn Skelly and Klaver. Graham's second goal of the night at 16:10 put Adrian in the driver's seat with assists from Skelly and Miller. Hewko scored a short-handed goal at 17:58 from Moore and Reed Smith but the LumberJacks did not get any closer.
Adrian outshot Northland, 31-20, including 13-7 in the third period. Brad Fogal made 17 saves and picked up the win in net. Daniel McIntosh made 26 saves for Northland. Adrian went 2-for-5 on the power play while Northland was 1-for-4.
