Volleyball Swept at #7 Calvin in First Round of MIAA Tournament

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Adrian College volleyball team ended their season on Tuesday as they were swept 3-0 (11-25, 13-25, 7-25) by the second-seeded Calvin College in the first round of the MIAA Tournament. The Bulldogs finished the season 10-20 overall and 4-12 in conference play.

The Bulldogs were unable to get anything going against one of the top teams in the nation as the seventh ranked Knights swept through the first round match-up.  Adrian improved by four wins over last season including a five game win streak midway through the season.

Senior Rebecca Tincknell (Troy, Mich./Troy) led the Bulldogs with four kills, while adding in three blocks. Tincknell ends her career at Adrian with 704 kills and 207 blocks, which ranks her in the top 10 All-Time. Sophomore Stephanie Holloman (Southfield, Mich./Roeper) also dropped in four kills to go along with four digs and two blocks. Junior Roxanne Duran (Toledo, Ohio/Springfield) and freshman Ashley VanHouten (Cadillac, Mich./McBain) both had three kills. Duran added in five digs while VanHouten had two blocks.  VanHouten's 26 solo blocks this season is tied for 10th all-time for a single season.

Senior Jamie Taylor had nine digs in her final game as a Bulldog, giving her a career digs total of 569. Adrian used three setters during the match as junior Joanna Slisinger (Sterling Heights, Mich./Cousino) and sophomore Kristy DeClercq (Livonia, Mich./Churchill) had eight assists while senior Katie MacFarlan (Chelsea, Mich./Chelsea) had four. MacFarlan finishes her career with 652 assists.
