ADRIAN, Mich. -
The Adrian College men's basketball team advanced in the MIAA Tournament with a 71-49 victory over Kalamazoo College on Wednesday night at the Merillat Center. The Bulldogs will travel to VanNoord Arena to face Hope College on Friday, February 26th. Tip-off is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
Jovon Mosley had a great game in the first round of the MIAA Tournament against the Hornets. Mosley shot 8-for-12 from the floor and knocked down six of his seven free throw attempts to end the game with 23 points. He nearly missed a double-double as he also hauled down nine rebounds.
Seniors Lamar Cardenas and Matt Wayne also scored in double digits for the Bulldogs. Cardenas had a career night with 10 points, five steals, four assists and three rebounds. Wayne shot a low percentage from the floor, but he connected on all six of his free throw attempts to score 10 points.
Wesley Reed and Blair Ramsey impacted the game after coming off the bench for the Bulldogs. Reed contributed 12 points, while Ramsey added seven points, five assists, and five rebounds.
Adrian played great team defense and it paid off as the Bulldogs scored 22 points off of Kalamazoo turnovers. The Hornets only shot 36 percent from the floor, compared to 49 percent from Adrian. AC also outscored Kalamazoo in the paint 32-12.
The semi-finals are set for Friday night at VanNoord Arena. Adrian will face two-seeded Hope College at 6:00 p.m. The late game will feature top-seeded Calvin College taking on Olivet as the four seed at 8:15 p.m.
