Box Score ADRIAN, Mich. – The Adrian College
volleyball team got their first home win of the season as they
defeated Oberlin College 3-0 (25-18, 30-28, 25-18). Their record
now stands at 3-6 on the season.
The Bulldogs and Yeowomen went back and forth during the second
set as Adrian finally pulled it out 30-28. In the third set Oberlin
held close at 10-10, until the Bulldogs rattled off a run of 15-4,
as they took down the Yeowomen 25-18.
The Bulldogs hit a season high .221 attack percentage and had
the second most kills as a team on the year with 44. The offense
was led by senior Rebecca
Tincknell and sophomore Stephanie
Holloman with nine kills each. Holloman also dropped in a
game-high three aces. Sophomore Kelly
MacDonald had eight kills, her highest on the season for a
three set match. Ashley
VanHouten, a freshman, had a personal season-high five kills on
eight attempts for a .500 attack percentage. Senior Beth
Donovan added in four kills and shared the team-high, with
eight digs. Junior Roxanne
Duran helped the defense with eight digs.
Junior Joanna
Slisinger had a team-high 20 assists, while sophomore Kristy
DeClercq added in 18.
"The team played well today," Coach Joris said. "The girls came
together as a team. They never backed down and finished each match
strong. I'm happy to get our first home win!"
The Bulldogs will travel to MIAA opponent Trine University on
Tuesday, September 21 at 6:30 pm.
