Box Score ANGOLA, Ind. – The Adrian College
volleyball team got their first MIAA conference win Tuesday as they
defeated Trine University 3-2 (25-23, 18-25, 25-22, 19-25, 15-11).
The Bulldogs now have a record of 4-6 overall and 1-3 in the
conference.
The Bulldogs jumped out early and narrowly took the first game.
Trine fought back to tie it at 1-1, before Adrian took advantage of
several service errors in the third set to take the 2-1 lead. Trine
again came back in the fourth set after Adrian led early to force
the match into a decisive fifth set. Adrian fell behind early to
Thunder in the fifth set. After fighting back to tie it at 4-4, the
Bulldogs rallied off 12 or the next 19 points to take the final set
and the game.
Senior Beth
Donovan led the Bulldogs with nine kills while adding in five
digs and three blocks, including two solo. Fellow senior Rebecca
Tincknell was a major factor at the net with six kills and five
blocks, including a team-high four block assists. Junior Roxanne
Duran also contributed to the offense and defense with five
kills and 12 digs. Sophomore Stephanie
Holloman had an all-around solid night with five digs, three
kills, two service aces, two solo blocks and three block
assists.
Freshman Kristi
Walker led the defense with a game-high 20 digs on the night.
Walker also had a game-high four service aces. Junior Joanna
Slisinger and sophomore Kristy
DeClercq helped the offense in the win with a combined 21
assists.
The Bulldogs will return to action on Friday, September 24 at
6:30pm as they host the 12th ranked Hope College.
Stats will not be avaible until Wednesday evening.
