Box Score ADRIAN, Mich. – The Adrian College
volleyball couldn't hold on to several leads as the visiting
14th ranked Hope College defeated the Bulldogs 3-0
(13-25, 15-25, 9-25). The Bulldogs record now stands at 4-7 on the
season and 1-4 in the MIAA.
Adrian led 5-2 in the first set, but hope would go on a 15-5 run
to take the set. The Bulldogs again went up early in the second
set, leading 10-8 before the Flying Dutch went on a 17-5 run and
took the middle set. In third set, Adrian again led early at
4-2, but Hope once again came back to take the deciding set for the
win.
For the Bulldogs, the offense was led by freshman Ashley
VanHouten who had three kills and had a game-high two solo
blocks, with also a block assist. Senior Rebecca
Tincknell led Adrian with five kills for the match, while
helping out with two digs and a block assist. Roxanne
Duran, a junior, had an all-around solid game with the kills,
and a match-high 10 digs. Freshman Elise
Mindick, starting for the injured Danielle
Bogedin, had a season-high three kills to go along with two
digs and a block assist.
The defense for the Bulldogs had several players providing solid
assistance. Freshman Kristi
Walker had six digs, senior Beth
Donovan and junior Joanna
Slisinger each had four digs, while sophomore Kristy
DeClercq had three.
DeClercq and Slisinger combined to assist on 13 of the 15
Bulldogs kills.
Adrian will look to get an MIAA win as they travel to Saint
Mary's College on Saturday, September 25 to face off with the
Belles at 1:00 pm.
