Box Score DELAWARE, Ohio – The Adrian College
volleyball team got their first win of the season defeating Grove
City in the opening game of the Bishop
Invitational. The Bulldogs came out swinging in the first set,
laying down 17 kills with a solid .452 attack percentage in
the set en-route to a swept of Grove City 3-0 (25-19, 25-23,
25-15).
The offense for Adrian was led by sophomore Stephanie
Holloman and Danielle
Bogedin. As a freshman, Bogedin has shown she can step in and
play, adding six kills to her team lead through two games. Holloman
led the team with six service aces and three blocks while adding
five kills.
Senior Beth
Donovan contributed with five kills, two digs and a block while
senior Rebecca
Tincknell added in four kills. Junior Roxanne
Duran played an all-around solid game hitting four kills, four
digs, two aces and a block. Kristy
DeClercq, a sophomore, led the team with 11 assists while
making four digs and two kills. The defense was led by freshman Kristi
Walker who had a team-high 20 digs.
"We served aggressive tonight and kept Grove City out of
system," Coach Elisa Joris said. "Our bench did a great job of
coming into the game and helping us finish. It feels good to get a
win after the tough loss to Bluffton on Wednesday."
Adrian will round out pool play when they face John Carroll and
host Ohio Wesleyan Saturday, September 4 starting at 9 am.
