Bulldogs Scorch the Scots, 81-42

ADRIAN, Mich. - The men's basketball team was in complete control from the opening tip on Saturday afternoon (Jan. 22) and never trailed in an 81-42 win over visiting Alma College. The Bulldogs (9-7, 4-2) scored a season-high 81 points in the victory and also shot a season-high 58.2 percent (32-of-55) from the field. It was the 12th straight win over Alma at home for the Bulldogs and it was the biggest margin of victory over the Scots since a 122-70 win in February 1965.

Sophomore guards Cody Barnes and Mitch Gabriele established career-highs in scoring during the contest. Barnes connected on 7-of-9 from the field including a 3-of-4 effort from behind the arc totaling 17 points. Gabriele went 5-of-9 from the floor including 3-of-6 from behind the arc for 13 points. Both players came off the bench as Adrian's reserves outscored Alma's, 43-20, for the game.

Senior forward Jovon Mosley netted 11 points and grabbed eight rebounds in 21 minutes. Mosley also had three assists, no turnovers and a steal during the game. Sophomore forward Dennis Mason finished with eight points (4-of-6 FG) and a team-high 10 rebounds including five offensive caroms. Mason also blocked three shots and recorded a steal in 25 minutes. Sophomore forward Sean Gallant collected nine points, nine rebounds and four assists in 26 minutes.

Adrian improved to 7-2 at the Merillat Gym this season and have won four in a row at home. Alma managed to shoot 36.2 percent (17-of-47) from the field and were 5-of-15 from behind the arc. The Scots were dreadful at the foul line going 3-of-10 for the contest. Adrian outrebounded the Scots, 41-21, for their largest margin of the season. The Bulldogs came into the game ranked third in Division III in scoring defense allowing 54.6 points per game. It was the fourth time this season that an opponent was held under 50 points.
