Box Score Williamsport, Pa. – The Adrian College men's basketball team shot an impressive 45.5% (56.7% in the first half) from the floor en route to a 77-51 victory over Hunter College in round one of the Lycoming College Tip Off Tournament tonight (Nov. 18). Off the bench in the first half, freshman guard Eric Lewis had a career night that included a game-high 20 (8-for-11) points which included a perfect 4-for-4 behind the three point arc. Lewis' first half performance guided Adrian to a 48-25 halftime lead that the Bulldogs would maintain and would never look back.
Adrian (1-1) got things started at the 15:21 mark of the first half when it went on a 23-4 run which was capped off by a Lewis Jumper at the 7:20 mark. Junior Delano Collins earned the assist. The Bulldogs had their highest lead of the game with 3:30 minutes left in the first half when junior Brad Whitby found Cody Barnes for a three-pointer, putting Adrian on top 45-18.
For the game, Lewis earned his first collegiate double-double with game-highs of 27 points and 10 rebounds. He went 11-for-15 (73%), which included a 5-for-5 performance behind the three-point arc.
Also making an impact for Adrian was junior forward Sean Gallant. Gallant went 6-for-11 for 16 points. He also was 4-for-4 from the charity stripe. Following Lewis's 10-rebound performance, Gallant was second with nine boards. Collins was the third Bulldog to earn double figures with 10 points to go along with four assists. Barnes also dished out four assists to go along with his five points.
For the game, Adrian out-shot Hunter 45.5%-38.0% and out rebounded the Hawks 41-30. The Bulldogs went 20-26 from the free throw line, while Hunter went 10-22.
Adrian is back in action tomorrow at 2:00 p.m. for game two of the tournament. They will face Staten Island.
