ADRIAN, Mich. – The women's lacrosse team struggled in the second half as they lost 19-11 to Buffalo State on Sunday. The Bulldogs fell behind 4-1 after scoring first as Amanda Lambert got her 13th goal of the season from Stacey Birlson just 1:13 into the game. Four different players scored for the Bengals including two free-position shots over the next seven minutes.
Adrian scored three of the next four goals to cut the lead to 5-4 with 9:42 left in the half. Andrea Soloko scored her seventh of the season at 17:18 from Olivia Duncan. Mary Accomando scored her first of the season from Lambert at 10:20 and Lambert's 14th of the year from Birlson at 9:42 to get within one.
Buffalo State led 7-5 at halftime with a 13-8 edge in shots. The Bengals scored 12 goals in the second half including six of the last eight of the game. Johnston scored her team-leading 17th and 18th goals of the season in the second half. Becca Martinez scored four goals in the second half in a row for the Bengals as they built a 16-9 lead with 10:46 to go. Karen Shaddock scored four times in the second half also for Buffalo State.
Buffalo State outshot Adrian, 32-26, and had 11 ground balls compared to four for the home team. The Bengals were 13-of-14 in clears while Adrian was 7-of-9. Birlson had two goals and two assists with two draw controls. Lambert finished with five points and seven shots on goal. Jul Tehovnik made seven saves for the Bulldogs.
