ADRIAN, Mich. - The Midwest Women's Lacrosse Conference Tournament title game is set as Adrian College took care of business in the second semifinal on Friday (Apr. 29) with a 22-4 win over North Central College.
The top-seeded Bulldogs needed little time to turn a 3-2 lead into a 11-2 lead in the first half and that was the run that broke the Cardinals' backs. Adrian's eight straight goals went from the 22:12 mark until the 11:23 mark. The Bulldogs led 14-3 at halftime and then outscored the Cardinals by an 8-1 margin in the second half.
Stacey Birlson had two goals and 10 assists for the game and led the team with 12 points. She was one assist shy of her career-high for helpers. Lindsey Day recorded a hat trick with three goals and also had an assist. Olivia Duncan added four goals and an assist. Amanda Lambert led the offense with five goals and also had an assist. Lambert now has 61 goals this season. Rachel Johnston also had five goals and five draw controls. She has 79 goals this season.
Amanda Faraone played 55:16 in goal and made six saves to improve to 6-0 this season. Adrian went 4-for-6 in free-position shots and were 9-of-10 in clears. Adrian outshot North Central, 32-16, and had 19 ground balls.
Adrian will face Carthage College tomorrow at 1:00 pm in the tournament final at Performance Stadium. The Bulldogs are currently second in the NCAA Division III West Region, but the conference does not have an automatic qualifier.
