ADRIAN, Mich. - The Adrian College ACHA Division 1 team keeps their perfect regular season at 3-0 as they defeated the Hoosiers of Indiana University 5-1 tonight in a physical matchup. The Bulldogs got on the board first with an early goal coming from Ryan Bachman with the assist coming from Logan Blackwell at 3:03 in the first period. The Hoosiers countered with an odd and low angle shot that narrowly passed by Matt Anderson, but the Bulldogs would not be denied taking a 2-1 lead in at the end of the first period thanks to a late goal by Max Gavin with the assist coming from Matt O'Neill. The second period was all Adrian as the Bulldogs netted two goals, one coming from Logan Blackwell at 5:18 crediting Dylan Towns with the assist. Five minutes later Erik Wentzel put one past the Hoosiers goaltender unassisted. Closing out the second period the Bulldogs held a 4-1 advantage. Heading into the third and final period Indiana come out with fire, but tired legs started to take their toll on the Hoosiers. The Bulldogs used their speed and agility to control the period and added another insurance goal as Brandon Boelter put one in the net giving Erik Wentzel the assist. The game ended with a score of 5-1 in the Bulldogs favor. The penalty kill was perfect tonight for Bulldogs killing off six Hoosier power plays. Matt Anderson had a solid night between the pipes allowing just one goal on twenty-three shots giving him twenty-two saves on the night. The Bulldogs are back in action again October 1, 2011 against the Indiana University Hoosiers at 3:00 p.m.
