Box Score GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Sophomore Richaud Pack led the Bulldogs with 14 points off the bench and junior Brad Whitby added 13 as the Adrian College Men's Basketball team earned a rare road win at Calvin, 60-57. With the win, the Bulldogs remain alone at second place in the conference with a record of 13-5 (6-2 MIAA).
It was a back-and-forth start to the game, but the Bulldogs went on a 10-3 run in the first half and the teams went into the locker room with Adrian holding a 24-19 lead. Freshman Eric Lewis had six points in ten minutes during the first half alone.
Adrian finished the first half 0-1 from the free-throw line while Calvin was 8-13. The Bulldogs managed to get to the line more in the second half as they finished 11-16 overall.
With just 16 seconds left in the game, the Bulldogs held a 58-57 advantage as junior Delano Collins hit a layup to give Adrian a three-point lead. After a timeout called by Bulldog Head Coach Mark White, Calvin had a chance to tie during the final seconds as Bryan Powell launched a 3-pointer at the buzzer that failed to fall for the Knights. The loss drops Calvin to 9-10 (4-4 MIAA).
Collins finished the game with eight points for the Bulldogs, going 4-4 from the free-throw line. Junior forward Dennis Mason also scored eight points for the Bulldogs while grabbing seven rebounds in 24 minutes.
The Bulldogs have a big week of basketball ahead as they will take on #3 Hope on Wednesday, Feb. 1 for a home game. Adrian traveled to Hope on Jan. 7 and fell, 68-60 after holding the lead early in the first half. Hope is 18-1 (8-0 MIAA) and has only lost to D-I Western Michigan on Nov. 30.
