Box Score ASHLAND, Wis. - The season opener looked like the good ol' days for the Adrian College men's hockey team as they continued their dominance of the Midwest Collegiate Hockey Association with a 7-2 win at Northland College on Friday, Nov. 2. Sophomore Josh Ranalli scored a goal and added three assists for a four-point night. He scored short-handed at 1:50 of the second period and also assisted on the game-winning goal scored by senior Kyle Gallinger at 6:54 of the first period. Ranalli also assisted on Adrian's fifth and seventh goal.
Freshman Shaquille Merasty made his presence known in his debut with a pair of goals in the first period. He scored at even strength at 13:06 from Chris Leone and Josh Cousineau and again at even strength at 19:58 from Cousineau and Ranalli. Sophomore Ryan Lowe got Adrian on the board at 2:49 on a 5-on-5 goal assisted by Zach Wilson and captain Andrew Dovey. All-American Zach Graham gave Adrian a 2-0 lead at 4:50 at even strength from Adam Davies and Kevin Balas.
Cousineau scored the final goal at 3:58 of the second period as Adrian scored six of their seven goals going 5-on-5. Adrian outshot Northland, 43-24, as sophomore Scott Shackell played all 60 minutes in net and made 22 saves for the Bulldogs. AC went 0-for-2 on the power play but their penalty kill was up to the task going 5-for-5.
