ADRIAN, Mich. – The men's basketball team continued their torrid start (5-0) on Monday night in their home opener with a 67-42 win over UM-Dearborn (2-6). The Bulldogs have now gotten off to their hottest start since the 2000-01 season when that group started 7-0.

Sophomore Eric Lewis hit for over 20 points for the second time this season and has now scored in double figures in every game this season. Lewis finished with 23 points on 11-of-16 shooting and also recorded six steals in 25 minutes. Lewis scored the first seven points of the game as Adrian raced out to a quick start. After a Jeff Fick layup, senior Cody Barnes made a three-pointer and Lewis followed with a fast break layup as Adrian led 12-2 at the 13:39 mark.

The Bulldogs led 14-6 and then went on a 13-2 run over five minutes to give them a 27-8 lead with 6:23 left in the first half. The Wolves turned the ball over seven times during the run. UM-Dearborn cut the lead down to 27-17 with 4:01 left in the half after a jumper by Julius Porter from the baseline. Adrian ended the half on a 9-3 run to lead 36-20 as Lewis scored the last four points for the Bulldogs. He finished with 17 points on 8-of-11 shooting in the first half.

The Bulldogs scored the first four points of the second half to lead by 20 and the lead would not dip below that number for the rest of the game. Adrian led by as many as 30 points at 63-33 with 4:48 left in the game. UM-Dearborn committed 27 turnovers and the stat of the game was that Adrian scored 31 points off those turnovers. The Wolves converted just nine points off 16 Adrian turnovers.

Lewis was the lone Bulldog in double figures as nine players cracked the scoring column. Senior Sean Gallant scored eight points and dished out three assists. Sophomore Adam Meier scored eight points and led the team with nine rebounds. Sophomore Brad Hohman added seven points and three boards in 13 minutes. Adrian shot 45 percent for the game (27-of-60) and were 5-of-12 from the arc. The Wolves shot 39.5 percent (17-of-43) and were just 6-of-11 at the foul line. The Bulldogs will square off with Mount Union (1-3) on Wednesday at home beginning at 5:30 p.m.
