Box Score ADRIAN, Mich. – The women's volleyball team (7-10) tried to duplicate their come-from-behind weekend success Monday against cross-town rival Siena Heights (10-4) in the most difficult fashion after dropping the first two sets and battling back to send the match to a deciding fifth match, and dropping a heartbreaker, 3-2, before a crowd of almost 400.
With the score tied at 12 in the fifth set, the Saints got the next two to go up 14-12, but the Bulldogs came within one of tying the match again at 14-13, before finally surrendering the match point. The team showed a lot of heart and perseverance in climbing back down 2-0.
Siena Heights took a close first set, 25-23; and also captured the second set, 25-21. Then, with the match on the line, the Bulldogs started their comeback by winning sets three and four, 25-17 and 25-21, respectively.
Adrian was led by Jordan Brisson, who had 20 kills and 51 total attacks. Behind Brisson in kills and attacks was Danielle Bogedin with 10 and 27, respectively. Linnea Berriman also had 10 kills. Kristy DeClercq added 27 assists, followed by Carly Tyson with 20.
Defensively, Emily Ribant led the team in digs with 19, while Kristi Walker contributed 15 digs. Stephanie Holloman had seven block assists, while Brisson had six, and Bogedin and Berriman each had five.
Although the tough loss ends the team's three-game winning streak, they can extend their conference winning streak to three with their next home matchup against Olivet, Wednesday, Sept. 26th at 6:30 p.m.
