Box Score ADRIAN, Mich. – The fast and the furious would have been a good title for the 77-46 win by the men's basketball team over visiting Kalamazoo College on Saturday afternoon. It might have been a bad omen when the Hornets had a problem with the team bus and tip-off was delayed one hour. It seemed like Kalamazoo never really got off the bus as they saw the host Bulldogs score the first 10 points and never look back.
The Bulldogs did not let up as they increased their lead to 22-4 just 6:25 into the game. Kalamazoo did not get into double figures until the 4:01 mark at 37-11 and Adrian led 43-13 at the break. It was the second fewest points allowed in the first half this season (11 at Carnegie Mellon) as the Hornets shot 17.2 percent (5-of-29) from the field including 1-of-10 behind the arc. Adrian shot 60 percent (18-of-30) in the opening 20 minutes and were also 4-of-6 from deep and 3-of-4 at the charity stripe.
The Bulldogs once again did a great job against one of the leading scorers in the MIAA. Mark Ghafari entered the game averaging 20.6 points and was held to five on 1-of-8 shooting from the floor with six turnovers. Sophomore Eric Lewis had another solid effort following up a career-high 32 points against Alma with his fourth 20-point or more game of the season. Lewis finished with 22 points on 10-of-15 from the field and also tallied seven rebounds, five assists and four steals in 28 minutes. Adrian held a substantial 36-16 edge in the paint and had 12 points on the fast break. Senior Cody Barnes added 16 points including 4-of-5 from behind the arc. Sophomore Adam Meier contributed 17 points and seven boards in 32 minutes.
