UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. - The men's basketball team traveled to Saginaw Valley State University on Monday for an exhibition contest against the NCAA Division II member Cardinals. The Bulldogs dropped a 71-57 decision in a tuneup for the regular season which begins on November 15.

Adrian College shot 39.3 percent (22-of-56) from the floor and 61.5 percent (8-of-13) at the free throw line. SVSU made 51 percent of their shots from the floor (25-of-49) and connected on 65.2 percent at the charity stripe (15-of-23). Garrett Hall led all scorers with 18 points for the Cardinals in 30 minutes off the bench. Rickey Jackson also came off the bench and led the Bulldogs with 14 points and seven rebounds in 29 minutes.

The Bulldogs led early on three occasions with the latest coming with 13:33 left in the opening half (10-9) after a Jackson triple. The Cardinals went on an 18-7 run over the next four-plus minutes to build a double digit lead at 27-17. The Bulldogs would cut the lead into single digits twice in the remainder of the half and trailed 40-29 at intermission.

Saginaw Valley State scored the first six points out of the locker room to build a 48-29 lead with 17:14 to play and the Bulldogs would only get as close as 12 points twice under three minutes to go. Ben Rodak was the team's second leading scorer with 13 points and also grabbed six rebounds. Drew Torey scored 11 points on 5-of-8 shooting from the floor and also had five assists and three rebounds.
