Box Score ALMA, Mich.- The Bulldog volleyball squad lost their third game in the conference, and their seventh game overall in Alma to the Scots on Wednesday. Adrian College hit the road for their second conference road game of the season only to fall short 13-25, 19-25, 25-21, 9-25.
The Bulldogs knew this match would be a tough contest. Alma College, who was picked to finish third in the MIAA, started the match quickly winning the first set 25-13. Adrian College kept this set close by tying the score early, six to six. This close start was followed closely by a six-point run by the Scots, and the Bulldogs could never recover. The second set was tight again early on as the teams fought to a seven to seven tie. The Scots broke through with runs of three and four to win the set 25-19. Adrian College rallied in the third set to make sure match play continued by going on a seven-point run after falling into a 19-13 deficit. This rally secured a 25-21 Bulldog victory and assured a fourth set. The Scots controlled the final set by tallying runs of seven and eight points to win the match 3-1.
Linnea Berriman led the Bulldog offense recording eight kills and a hitting percentage of .357. Jordan Brisson also contributed to the scoring by tallying seven kills of her own. Jessica Walters and Kristi Walker led the defense combining for 21 digs.
Adrian College sees action again this Friday, September 13 in the Manchester Tournament against Ohio Wesleyan at 5 p.m.
