GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Adrian College men's basketball team met Calvin College Wednesday night as the Bulldogs looked to secure their first MIAA victory of 2013-14. Adrian fell into an 18-point first half deficit and could not overcome the Knights in the second half as they fell to 0-3 in the MIAA and 4-10 overall after a 78-54 loss.

The first half saw Adrian battle to keep the Calvin advantage to single digits through the first 13:32 of the game as the Bulldogs fought hard with the Knights. Calvin slowly pulled away from this point forward and left Adrian with an 18-point shortage at the break.

The second half once again saw Adrian battle as the Bulldogs traded baskets with Calvin. This back and forth play left Adrian with a 17-point disadvantage with 9:11 remaining, before the Knights used an 8-0 run to secure their victory. This 8-0 spurt ended with 6:11 left on the clock and the Bulldogs were never able to recover. Despite playing the Knights to a close second half score of 38-32, Adrian fell to Calvin by the final score of 78-54.

Rickey Jackson and Ben Rodak each tallied 13 points. Wesley Reed compiled 10 points and three steals and Earl Swift came off of the bench to knock down seven points.

The Bulldogs will play next this Saturday, January 18 when they host Albion for a 3 p.m. tipoff.
