SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Adrian College men's basketball team had a great opportunity to travel to NCAA Division I powerhouse Syracuse University on Monday night and play at the Carrier Dome in an exhibition contest. The Bulldogs held their own in the first half trailing by 13 points, but were outscored 47-11 in the second half falling 84-35 to the 23rd-ranked Orange.
The biggest differential on the stat sheet was points off turnovers going 42-0 in favor of Syracuse. The Bulldogs battled hard against a talented frontcourt and held the 'Cuse to 40 percent shooting for the game including 29.3 percent in the first half. The Orange went 20-of-29 at the free throw line compared to 4-of-6 for the Bulldogs. The Orange also banged the glass to the tune of 48-34 including 24 offensive rebounds.
Ben Rodak led the Bulldogs with eight points and tied for the team lead with six rebounds. Curtis Gordon scored six points in 26 minutes. Justin Webster had seven points and six rebounds. Chris McCullough had a double-double for Syracuse with 13 points and a game-high 16 rebounds. The freshman from Bronx, N.Y. also went 9-of-9 at the foul line. Rakeem Christmas chipped in 12 points and five blocked shots.
