Box Score CHESTER, Pa. – The Adrian College men's basketball team began the 2014-15 season with a 61-52 loss versus Misericordia at the Widener Tip-Off Tournament on Saturday (Nov. 15). The Bulldogs had a rough time shooting the basketball from the floor going 17-of-55 (30.9 percent) while Misericordia shot 19-of-37 (51.4 percent) on the other end of the court.
Sophomore Justin Webster in his first game for Adrian notched a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds in 31 minutes. Webster went 5-of-11 from the floor and 4-of-5 at the foul line. Junior Ben Rodak scored 10 points before fouling out in 29 minutes. Rodak made two three's and grabbed four boards. Senior Jamison Webster scored nine points off the bench in 25 minutes.
Adrian started the game on fire building a 12-2 lead a little more than four minutes into the game. Rodak hit a pair of three's and Jamison Webster drilled another three to force a 30-second timeout by Misericordia. The Bulldogs held a 17-5 lead at the 12:40 mark after a three-point play by Justin Webster. Adrian held a 21-8 lead with 7:19 left in the half after a bucket by Rodak and then momentum swung toward the Cougars. They went on a big run to take a 24-23 lead on a triple by Griffin Sponaugle with 1:50 left until halftime. The Bulldogs trailed 27-23 heading into the locker room as Misericordia scored 14 points off turnovers in the first half.
Adrian needed to regroup heading into the second half and early in the half they trailed 35-28 after a layup by Joe Busacca. The Bulldogs cut the lead to 38-34 at the 11:17 mark after a fast-break layup by R'mand Harp. The Cougars built their first double-digit lead, 47-37, after a triple by Jacob Battle with 8:15 remaining. That final run by Misericordia seemed to mark the end of a comeback by Adrian who scored 15 points for the rest of the game.
