Box Score DEARBORN, Mich. – The Adrian College men's basketball team led for the first 39:03 of their road game at Michigan-Dearborn on Monday (Dec. 1), but the Wolves' Deonte Ball came up with two clutch baskets in a 52-50 win over the Bulldogs. Ball connected on a three-point play with 57 seconds remaining to give his team their first lead of the game and then hit the game-winning jumper with two seconds left.
Adrian (2-3) started the game's scoring with a three-pointer by Rickey Jackson, Jr. and then led by as many as 11 points (16-5) with 7:53 left in the half. The Wolves cut the deficit to 23-16 at intermission as the Bulldogs scored 12 points in the paint.
Michigan-Dearborn got the game within one possession on seven occasions in the second half and kept chipping away at the Adrian lead in the final 20 minutes. Adrian led 48-45 with 3:31 to play after a Brandon Cole jumper and then James Strickland hit a jumper in the paint with 2:47 left to cut the lead down to one.
The Bulldogs had a turnover and missed three-pointer on their next two possessions before Ball's three-point play. Eric Lewis did give Adrian a tie at 50-50 with 28 seconds to go before Ball's winning shot. Michigan-Dearborn improved to 3-7 overall while shooting 42.2 percent for the game. The Bulldogs shot 39.1 percent from the floor and were 11-of-17 at the free throw line. Justin Webster led the team with 17 points (7-of-10 FG) and also grabbed seven rebounds in 39 minutes. Jackson, Jr. poured in 12 points and hit a pair of triples in 32 minutes. Lewis scored seven points and grabbed four rebounds in 28 minutes.
