Box Score ADRIAN, Mich. – The Adrian College men's basketball team could not get a key basket late in the game as they missed on four field goal attempts and committed two turnovers in a two-plus minute span of a tie game (51-51) in a 62-58 loss to Elmhurst (8-1). The Bluejays took advantage going 9-of-12 at the free throw line in the last two minutes of the game. Elmhurst was 23-of-31 at the charity stripe and Adrian went 22-of-29 including 11-of-13 in the second half of a physical game which featured 45 fouls.
Adrian also had their struggles shooting the ball against the Bluejay zone defense. The Bulldogs were 4-of-19 and took 14 attempts in the second half. The Bulldogs kept the game close by playing tough defense as the Bluejays shot just 35.4 percent and were held to 15 points below their season average. The tandem of Rickey Jackson, Jr. and Ben Rodak combined to score 27 of the team's points after each having just two points apiece in the first half. Jackson went 5-of-10 from the floor and grabbed five rebounds. He was limited to 21 minutes because of foul trouble and returned to the game in the second half after a nasty fall under Elmhurst's basket. Rodak went 6-of-7 at the free throw line and also had five rebounds in a team-high 38 minutes.
The contest featured seven ties and 12 lead changes as Elmhurst led 30-26 at the break. Kyle Wuest scored a game-high 23 points for Elmhurst which is 10 points above his season average. Wuest went 6-of-11 from the floor with three triples and also connected on 8-of-9 at the foul line. The Bluejays had great balance with 11 players recording a point. Will Nixon contributed seven points and seven rebounds in 23 minutes.
