Box Score KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Bulldogs travelled to take on the Hornets of Kalamazoo College Saturday afternoon. Adrian fell to Kalamazoo in the first meeting between the teams in a 66-56 decision on January 22. The Bulldogs looked to earn a season split with the Hornets as they took a 37-25 lead to the break. The Bulldogs failed to secured this lead in the second half as Kalamazoo came back to take down Adrian 65-62. This loss drops the Bulldogs to 5-18 on the season and 1-11 in the MIAA.
The first half saw the Bulldogs jump out to a 12 point lead. Adrian dominated the first 20 minutes by going 8-12 from 3-point range and shooting 48% from the floor. The Bulldogs held the Hornets in check as Kalamazoo shot 40% from the floor and 3-11 from 3-point range.
The second half was a different game as the Bulldogs cooled off from 3-point range as they went only 2-12 from behind the arch. Adrian shot just 37% from floor and allowed the Hornets to sink 50% of their shots.
Kalamazoo outscored the Bulldogs 40-25 during the second half. The Hornets did not take over the lead until a mere five seconds remained in the game when Adams Peters capped a three point play to propel the Hornets ahead of Adrian 63-62.
Rickey Jackson led the Bulldogs with 16 points, five rebounds, three assists and three steals. Ben Rodak scored 11 points and Jeffrey Robertson, Jr. came off of the bench to knock down seven points and add five rebounds.
Adrian will see action again Wednesday, February, 19 when the host Alma College for a 7:30 p.m. tipoff.
