Box Score ADRIAN, Mich. – The Bulldogs met Calvin College Saturday night for their second matchup with the Knights of 2013-14. The Bulldogs looked to revenge a 24 points shortcoming from January 15 and earn their second MIAA victory of the season. Adrian came out firing as they put Calvin to the test the entire first half as they trailed by just one point at the break, 34-33. The second half saw the Knights pull away as they outscored Adrian 34-22 and dropped the Bulldogs to 5-16, 1-9 MIAA with a 68-55 victory.
The first half saw back and forth gameplay as the teams remained tied 13-13 through the first five minutes of the game. This was followed immediately by a Bulldog 9-0 run over 3:32 as they opened a 22-13 lead. The Knights countered with a 12-2 run as they regained the lead, 25-24 with 6:25 left in the half. Six lead changes and two ties followed as the Knights carried a mere one point lead to the break, 34-33.
The second half saw Calvin take control as they opened a six point lead with 12:12 remaining. The Bulldogs fought hard to break the deficit, but they could not come within five points of Calvin for the remainder of the game. Adrian traded baskets with Calvin, but the Knights slowly pulled away as they made their free throws down the stretch to secure a 13 point win, 68-55.
Rickey Jackson led the Bulldogs with 18 points. Wesley Reed scored 14 points. Ben Rodak added seven points and four rebounds.
Adrian will see action again Wednesday, February 12 when they travel to Albion for an 8 p.m. tipoff.
