No. 3-Ranked Skaters Come From Behind to Get Bounce Back Win at MSOE, 5-3

Box Score

MILWAUKEE, Wis.—Sophomore Kyle Brothers scored two goals, linemate Mathew Thompson added three assists and freshman goaltender Kevin Entmaa made 22 saves in his collegiate debut to power No. 3-ranked Adrian College to a 5-3 come-from-behind win at Milwaukee School of Engineering on Saturday at the Kern Center.

Both teams now stand 1-1 overall and in conference play after the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association opening-weekend series.

Just like last night in a 5-1 defeat, Adrian fell behind early this afternoon. But unlike Friday, the Bulldogs rallied from deficits of 1-0 and 3-1 to score four unanswered goals over the last 30 minutes to get the victory.

Brothers scored the last goal of the second period and the first of the third to knot the score 3-all. Then 2 minutes and 16 seconds after Brothers' power play goal, freshman defenseman Cory Dunn gave Adrian the lead for the first time at 4-3 with 12:24 to go in the contest.

The Raiders pulled the goalie with 85 seconds remaining and got three shots off, as Entmaa turned aside a pair and sophomore defenseman Blake Butzow blocked a good look by Clint Garris. Freshman Trevor Boyd scored an empty-net goal--his first career collegiate point--to ice the win for the Bulldogs.

MSOE took a 1-0 off the stick of Kevin LoGiudice--just as he did on Friday. Conner Enciso and Gage Christianson assisted on the scoring play 3:05 after the opening face-off.

The teams skated to a 1-1 draw after 20 minutes after freshman Connor Armour deposited his first career goal in an Adrian uniform. Freshman Bryan Yim and junior assistant captain Daniel Lisi assisted on the play at the 14:08 mark.

MSOE opened the scoring in the second stanza with goals by Brandon Unser and Omar Mullan on the power play less than 4 minutes apart, beginning at 1:25 into the period. The Raiders, who were outshot 39 to 25, forged to a 3-1 advantage before AC mounted its comeback.

Besides Armour, Brothers and Thompson, junior Jeremy Olinyk also enjoyed a multi-point outing with two assists. Entmaa also assisted on Brothers' game-tying power-play goal, 3-3.

Christianson finished with two assists for the Raiders.

Adrian outshot MSOE 17-8 in the key third period in which the Bulldogs scored three times and held the Raiders to no goals.

Adrian will have its home opener on Friday (7:05 p.m.) and Saturday (3:05 p.m.) when the Bulldogs host NCHA foe Northland for a two-game series at Arrington Ice Arena.
