Box Score ADRIAN, Mich.--The line of sophomores Kyle Brothers, Mathew Thompson and junior Jeremy Olinyk combined for 12 points as the nationally-ranked Adrian College men's hockey team throttled visiting Northland College, 11-2, in a Northern Collegiate Hockey Association contest at Arrington Ice Arena on Saturday.
The Bulldogs (No. 6 USCHO, No. 7 D3hockey) improve to 3-1 both overall and in the NCHA, while the Lumberjacks drop to 0-4 on the season, 0-2 in the conference.
Adrian outshot Northland 22 to 8 en route to a 4-1 first period lead and never looked back. Brothers opened the scoring at the 6:04 mark, banking a shot off the goalie from behind the net.
But the lead was short-lived as Darius Cole knotted the score at 1-all 26 seconds later, with Michael Berens getting an assist.
Adrian regained the lead for good at the 11:16 mark as senior assistant captain Chris Leone scored on the power-play on a feed from freshman Connor Armour. It was Leone's first tally of the season.
Freshman goaltender Kevin Entmaa played the first two periods, making nine saves to improve to 2-0. Junior transfer Peter Megariotis saw the final 20 minutes in his AC debut, stopping six shots.
Thompson finished with four points on three goals and an assist, Brothers had five points along with four assists and Olinyk had three points (1g, 2a).
For the game, the Bulldogs enjoyed a 57-17 shots on goal advantage and went 3-for-8 on the power play while killing off two NC man-advantages.
Juniors Brett Pinkerton and Brent Sauve joined Leone who recorded their first goal of 2015-16 for the Bulldogs, who enjoyed their largest margin of victory under second-year head coach Adam Krug '12. Sauve added a second goal in his season debut.
With 47 seconds left in the contest, freshman Wyatt Garagan scored his first career goal for Northland with assists credited to Jason Reynolds and Ben Owen.
Adrian hits the road next weekend to play NCHA foe Marian University in Fond du Lac, Wis., on Friday (8 p.m. Eastern) and Saturday (5 p.m. Eastern).
