ADRIAN, Mich. - The Adrian College ACHA Division I team took the Arrington Ice for the final time in the 2014-15 season on Thursday and celebrated senior night with a huge 12-1 win over the Eastern Michigan Eagles.
The Bulldogs' Brad Kobryn (Burlington, Ont.) and Mitch Balavich (Lake Orion, Mich.) each produced hat tricks for Adrian to account for half of the Bulldog goals. Erik Alden struck for a pair of goals and the Bulldogs received single tallies from Nick Goettle (Davidson, Mich.), Sam Johnston (North Saarnich, B.C.), Matt Zaremba (Gaylord, Mich.) and Chris Derochie (Rossland, B.C.).
Adrian lead just 2-1 after one period, but a two-goal second period broke the game open at 4-1 and Adrian made sure there was no comeback by the Eagles, scoring eight times in the game's final 20 minutes.
The Bulldogs were able to constantly attack the Eagles goal all evening, firing an incredible 85 shots at beleaguered Eastern Michigan goaltender Joe Moza, who despite giving up 12 goals did manage 73 saves.
Senior Frank Crupi (Unionville, Ont.) played well in the Adrian goal, allowing just the lone goal by Eastern's Ryan Faucheux while making 20 saves, including stopping a late Eastern Michigan penalty shot.
Before the game the team honored their seven seniors: Adam Bristol (Carmel, Ind.), Darren Tarasoff (Castelgar, B.C.), Erik Wentzel (Kelowna, B.C.), Zaremba, Matt O'Neil (Mississauga, Ont,), Alex Dobrzrnecki (Fishers, Ind.) and Crupi.
