GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Adrian College men's basketball team tangled with league leading Calvin College at Van Noord Arena on Saturday afternoon. The second meeting was much like the first when the Bulldogs hung tough against the Knights before Calvin pulled away in the second half. Adrian fell 69-61 and are now 7-14 overall and 5-5 in the MIAA.

The Bulldogs used a quick spark in the first three-plus minutes to take a 9-3 lead after a jumper by Rickey Jackson, Jr. The Knights took a 16-15 lead with 11:21 left in the half after Austin Parks hit a pair of free throws. Calvin then scored the next eight points to build a 24-15 lead after a layup by Brad Visser with 7:20 left in the first half. The Knights increased their advantage to 34-20 with 3:23 left in the half on a triple by Connor VanderBrug. Adrian began to creep back into it and cut the lead to 37-31at halftime when Jackson, Jr. hit a jumper with six seconds left in the opening half.

Adrian kept it in single digits for the first 10 minutes of the second half, but could not get any closer than five. Adrian made it 59-53 with 6:11 to play after a Ben Rodak triple and minutes later Jordan Denham again cut the lead to six with 1:20 to go. Jordan Brink made a pair of free throws and then Rodak made a layup to make it six again with 51 seconds to play. Jordan Daley missed both free throws for Calvin but Brink regained possession and scored the final bucket with 26 seconds left.

Justin Webster scored 17 points to lead the Bulldogs going 8-of-12 from the field. Jackson, Jr. scored 16 points and connected on two triples in 35 minutes. Rodak finished with 11 points and went 3-of-4 from the arc. Denham chipped in 10 points on 5-of-10 shooting. Calvin edged Adrian, 36-23, on the boards and held a 33-17 advantage in bench points.
