Late Free Throws Secure Comeback Win for Women's Basketball on the Road at Olivet, 52-50

OLIVET, Mich.--Freshman Sadia Johnson scored a game-high 22 points, including a pair of crucial free throws late in the contest, and the visiting Adrian College women's basketball team fashioned a second-half rally to defeat Olivet College, 52-50, in Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association play on Saturday afternoon.

Records: Adrian Bulldogs 11-8 overall, 6-5 MIAA ; Olivet Comets 1-17 overall, 1-9 MIAA 

TOP 'DAWGS
= Johnson went 6-for-13 from the field and made 9-of-10 at the free throw line. She also had two steals.

= Freshman Angelina Goosby tied with for game-high honors with seven rebounds.

= Senior Brigitte Zavithsanos and junior Starnisha Harris shared a game-high four assists.

THE OPPOSITION
Jillian Nickels led the Comets with 16 points and had a game-high three steals. She also dished three assists.

T'Keyia Collins came off the bench to score 14 on 7-for-10 shooting and she tied for game-high rebounds with seven.

Jazmin Hildebrand had seven boards and chipped in seven points.

HOW IT HAPPENED
= With the score tied 50-50, Olivet had the ball with 12.2 seconds left and threw it away on the inbounds.

= So that gave Adrian the chance to take the lead and Johnson sank two free throws with 8.2 seconds remaining to seal the win.

= The Comets had the last possession but were unable to get a clean shot off.

= After a Leeza Fortner jumper that gave Olivet a 41-34 lead with 3 minutes, 54 seconds left in the third quarter, Adrian ended the game on an 18-9 run. The Bulldogs outscored the Comets 11-5 in the fourth.

= Sophomore Katie Crawford sparked the Bulldog rally with a lay-in, and Johnson scored nine of her team's last 18 points.

= Olivet made 48.8 percent of its field goal attempts (20-41) compared to a .375 clip (18-48) for the Bulldogs, who countered that performance by getting to the free throw line. Adrian made 13 of 17 attempts while the Comets were just 6 for 17.

= Adrian's largest lead came in the opening minutes, 7-0, on a Johnson trey, Zavithsanos jumper and Shannon Garvey (7 points) lay-in.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
= Adrian sweeps the season series from Olivet, after winning in Adrian on Dec. 10, 81-58. The Bulldogs now lead all-time over the Comets, 69-28.

= The Bulldogs have won two-straight and four of their last five outings.

= Adrian's last series sweep of Olivet came during the 2004-05 campaign, winning two regular-season contests and a MIAA playoff game.

= The Comets completed a four-game homestand 1-3.

= Johnson, who has posted back-to-back 20-point games, vaults two spots to No. 3 in MIAA scoring with 15.7 points per game. She leads all conference freshmen in scoring.
