Men's Hockey Draws NCHA Foe Northland on the Road, 1-1

Box Score

ASHLAND, Wis.--Senior Trevor Boyd scored Adrian's lone goal in the first period as the visiting Bulldogs skated to a 1-1 tie at Northland on Saturday afternoon in Northern Collegiate Hockey Association men's action.

THE BASICS

= Final Score: Adrian College 1, Northland College 1 (overtime)

= Location: Bay Area Civic Center; Ashland, Wis.

= Records: Adrian Bulldogs 8-3-1 overall (5-2-1 NCHA South Division); Northland LumberJacks 4-4-2 overall (2-2-2 NCHA North Division)

= National Rankings: Adrian--#4 United States College Hockey Online (246 points) and #4 D3hockey.com (250) polls

TOP 'DAWGS

= Boyd finished with six shots on goal and a game-high 10 overall.

= Senior center Connor Armour and senior defenseman Braden Hellems assisted on Boyd's tally.

= Senior Kevin Entmaa had 14 saves in net.

= On face-offs, Armour was 11-for-17, freshman William Brochu went 7-of-11 and classmate Michael Montambault won 5-of-8.

THE OPPOSITION

= Max Glashauser scored Northland's only goal.

= Goalie David Krejčík posted 36 saves.

= Jacob Jeske and Oscar Larsson were credited with assists.

= Ty Kraus (13-22) and Lucas DeBenede (9-16) paced the 'Jacks on face-offs.

HOW IT HAPPENED

= Adrian kept offensive pressure on Northland all afternoon, outshooting the LumberJacks 37 to 15.

= The Bulldogs dominated the five-minute overtime by recording all five of the shots on goal during the period. Glashauser was whistled for a 2-minute minor for hooking to give Adrian its fifth power play opportunity, but couldn't cash in playing half the OT on the man-advantage.

= Adrian thought it may have scored the overtime winner with 40 seconds remaining in the extra session, but the official called a 2-minute roughing the goalie penalty on junior Joey Colatarci that negated the goal. The Bulldogs made sure to secure a conference road point by keeping the 'Jacks off the scoreboard during their final power play of the day.

= Boyd staked the visitors to a 1-0 lead with his sixth goal of the season coming at the 8:41 mark of the first period. With Adrian on the power play, the puck eventually got to Hellems who fed Armour up near the blueline where he delivered a pass to Boyd who then one-timed the shot past the goalie.

= After the teams played a scoreless second period, Northland got the tying goal in the third off the stick of Glashauser for his second on the year at 9:10.

= During late in regulation, Adrian junior Matt McNair had a golden opportunity for a go-ahead goal after stealing a breakout pass at the NC blueline, but his shot was blocked away in the slot.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

= Adrian senior captain Cory Dunn appeared in his 100th game today wearing the Black and Gold. He has career scoring totals of 22+89=111.

= The Bulldogs lead Northland in the all-time series 24-0-1, including an 11-game road unbeaten streak (10 wins, 1 tie).

= Armour already has 11 points (2G, 9A) in 12 games this season after coming off an injury-shortened 2017-18 campaign that limited him to 6 points (1G, 5A) in nine.

UP NEXT

= Adrian returns home to Arrington Ice Arena next weekend to host Salve Regina in a non-conference series on Friday (7:05 p.m.) and Saturday (3:05 p.m.).
