@ACBulldogHockey Finishes Strong to Sweep Past MSOE into NCHA Harris Cup Semifinals

ADRIAN, Mich.--Senior assistant captain Taylor McCloy's prolific scoring touch continued Saturday afternoon as registered a hat trick to help top-ranked Adrian College double up MSOE, 6-3, in game two of their 2018 Northern Collegiate Hockey Association Harris Cup quarterfinal series. As a result of the sweep of the visiting Raiders, Adrian advances to the NCHA Semifinals next Saturday against South Division third-seeded Lake Forest (which beat Concordia-Wisconsin in their series, 1-0-1).

TOP 'DAWGS
= Senior Kyle Brothers matched McCloy with three points on a goal and two assists.

= Four other Bulldogs had a multi-point afternoon: senior captain Mathew Thompson (2 assists), junior Cory Dunn (2 assists), sophomore Dino Balsamo (2 assists) and junior Trevor Boyd (1 goal, 1 assist).

= Sophomore Ryan Cusin also scored for the Bulldogs.

= Goalie Kevin Entmaa made 26 saves to set a career-high with 15 victories in a season (15-2).

THE OPPOSITION
= Garrett Gintoli and Will Gauthier led MSOE with a goal and assist apiece.

= James Ring won 12 of 27 face-offs and had a goal.

= Brett Wagner led the team with five shots on goal.   

= Zach Woodman had 41 stops.

HOW IT HAPPENED
= Adrian outshot MSOE 47 to 29 on the afternoon, including 18-7 in the decisive third period when the Bulldogs scored four of the game's final five goals.

= The Bulldogs once again controlled the face-off circle: senior Chase Matson (10-13), Thompson (11-16), Balsamo (11-17) and junior Bryan Yim (10-21). As a team, AC won 46 of 73 face-off attempts.

= Adrian scored four goals in the third period to blow open a 2-2 tie after 40 minutes. McCloy's second goal of the afternoon 5 minutes and 27 seconds into the third put the Bulldogs in the lead for good.

= Ring had tied it 3-3 at the 4:50 mark, or 37 seconds before McCloy's second marker.

= Adrian got insurance goals from McCloy at 14:45 and Brothers on an empty-net at 18:20.

= Adrian never trailed in a game that MSOE tied 1-1, 2-2 and 3-3.

= Cusin's goal with 53 seconds left in the opening stanza broke a scoreless tie.

= Both power-play units combined for 3-for-9, with MSOE scoring twice with the man-advantage.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
= MSOE falls to 21-22 all-time in 18 conference tournament appearances.

= The Bulldogs improve to 35-5-2 lifetime against the Raiders, including 20-3-2 at home. Adrian beat MSOE four times this season.

= Adrian won Game 1 of the NCHA Quarterfinals over MSOE on Friday, 3-2.

= Adrian's 15-game winning streak is the third-longest in program history (36 from Nov. 2, 2008-Dec. 5, 2009 and 20 from Nov. 2, 2008-Dec. 5, 2009). The Bulldogs have the longest current win streak in all of NCAA hockey, men's or women's, all Divisions--equaling the longest in Division III in 13 seasons as UMASS-Dartmouth won 15 in a row from Jan. 5-March 2, 2005.

= McCloy joined the 100-point club in Adrian men's hockey history with his first goal of the day at 3:01 of the third period, giving the 'Dogs a 3-2 lead at the time. He becomes the 14th Bulldog to reach that milestone and joins Thompson (59+64=123, 102 GP) as the second this season. McCloy has career scoring totals of 47+55=102 in 96 contests.

= Thompson tied Quinn Waller (15g 108a from 2007-10) for 11th place on the program's all-time point-scoring list. 

= With four points versus MSOE in a span of eight days, Dunn now ranks No. 3 on the AC all-time defenseman scoring list with 95 career points (18+77). He recently surpassed Jeremy Klaver (24+68=92, 113).

= The Bulldogs are 27-3 all-time in the conference playoffs.
