'Sweet Sixteen' Winning Streak Puts @ACBulldogHockey into NCHA Harris Cup Championship Game

Box Score

ADRIAN, Mich.--Taylor McCloy continued his torrid goal-scoring, and Kevin Entmaa and Dillon Kelley combined on a shutout, as the top-ranked Adrian College men's hockey team whitewashed visiting Lake Forest, 9-0, in the 2018 Northern Collegiate Hockey Association Harris Cup Semifinals on Saturday. The Bulldogs have won 16 games in a row, advancing to the championship contest next weekend against the St. Norbert/Marian winner.

= Senior captain Mathew Thompson was 15-for-24 in the face-off dot while posting a goal and two assists. He also had a plus-4 rating.

= Freshman Dean Hewines had a career-best three assists. He added four shots on goal from his defensive spot and was a plus-4.

= Other Bulldogs with a multi-point day: senior Kyle Brothers (1g, 2a), sophomore Matt McNair (2a) and junior Cory Dunn (2a).

= Defensemen Connor Duncan, Zach Feldman and forward Charlie Izaguirre led Lake Forest with three shots each.

HOW IT HAPPENED
= Adrian scored three goals in the first period, two in the second and four in the third, while outshooting the Foresters 36 to 22 on the afternoon.

= The Bulldogs scored a pair of power-play tallies less than 10 minutes apart in the first period, beginning with McCloy first goal of the game just 2 minutes and 54 seconds in to set the tone.

= Sophomore Bud Madej and McCloy scored second-period goals and the Bulldogs took a commanding 5-0 lead.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
= McCloy has scored eight goals and three assists during Adrian's three games so far in the Harris Cup tournament. He becomes the first Bulldog in 10 years to post back-to-back hat tricks in a game, as Sam Kuzyk had a four-goal performance versus Concordia Wisconsin on Feb. 15, 2008, and then three goals against the Falcons the following day.

= Eric Miller is the only other Bulldog to complete that feat (at Minnesota, Crookston; Jan 18-19, 2008) and did it during the same season as Kuzyk.

= The Bulldogs' 16-game winning streak is currently the longest in all NCAA divisions, third-longest in school history and longest in NCAA Division III since Feb. 7-Nov. 14, 2014 as St. Norbert had a similar string.

= Adrian has reached its fourth-straight NCHA Harris Cup conference championship game.

= Brothers touched the 150-point milestone for his career, trailing Brad Houston (72+79=151, 2007-10) by one point for fifth place on the program's all-time scoring chart.

= Thompson (60+66) tied Sam Kuzyk (59+67, 2007-10) for 10th on the all-time scoring list with 126 points apiece.

= The Bulldogs are now 28-3 all-time in the conference playoffs.

= Dunn (18+79=97) is on the cusp of becoming the third Adrian skater this season to surpass 100 career points.

= Adrian sweeps the season series over Lake Forest (16-3 three-game aggregate) to move to 26-0-1 all-time against the Foresters.

= Today marks the biggest shutout win in the series as well as in Adrian's postseason history.

UP NEXT
= Adrian will host the NCHA championship game next weekend. Tickets will be available online here, beginning at 10 a.m. Monday.
