HOW IT HAPPENED
Adrian just couldn't find a way to get the ball into the hoop in the first half, with Kalamazoo up 36-20 at the break. The Hornets went on 17-point run to open the large lead. Kalamazoo shot 58.3% from the field while AC connected at just a 17.9% clip. The Bulldogs' bright spot in the first half was junior forward Jeremy Kalonji, who scored 14 of Adrian's points in the opening 20 minutes, including hitting all seven of his free throw attempts.
The offense came alive in the second half, shooting 52% but it wouldn't be enough to overcome the Hornets' first-half lead. AC was able to get the deficit to as little as three points with only 2.6 seconds remaining on a 25-10 run but couldn't keep the comeback rolling and lost 67-62. Sophomore Jordan Harris went on a tear in the second half, leading the Bulldogs in the final frame with 23 points. Kalonji dropped in another 14 in the second half for a game-high 28, matching his career high from earlier this year.
