HOW IT HAPPENED

Set one went in favor of the Bulldogs, as they collected their set win in their last four matches played. Despite getting off to a rocky start, handing the Hornets the first point on a service error, AC went on a nine-point run on kills by Korbyn Koerner, Liz Susitko, Madison Federmeyer and Katelyn Bergman along with an Alex Tobler service ace. After going back and forth dealing blows, Adrian posted another impressive run, seven points, to reach set point territory (5-24). Kzoo had one last attempt to swing momentum, posting three points to make it 8-24. Senior Carly Thomas was finally to collect the set point as she posted a kill.

The Hornets put up more of a fight in the middle set, falling by a smaller margin (10 points). Despite the visitor's attempts, Adrian never trailed, forcing many Kzoo errors. In a five-point run for the Bulldogs, four of the points were attributed to attack and ball handling errors, while Koerner posted the lone earned point.

Set three also went quick, as Adrian had several multiple-point runs to take in 25-11. Federmeyer served for three aces in the early-goings of the set. Haas also had a pair of service aces of her own. The last two points of the match were owned by Federmeyer with another ace, with the final coming off a Koerner kill.

TOP DOGS

  • Madison Federmeyer performed well on both sides of the ball, serving for a team-best and season-high five service aces. She owned a team-best two block assists and one of the only block solos.
  • Korbyn Koerner and Alex Tobler posted identical numbers in kills, 8, to lead the squad. They also had a block assist each.
  • With 13 total service aces, the quartet of Tobler (2), Emily Haas (4), Taylor Sinclair and Megan Prsa (1), made up the remaining tallies.
