HOW IT HAPPENED

Adrian College never trailed in the opening-set, despite the score being tied many times in the early goings. AC took control behind an eight-point run to make the score 15-7. The run featured two kills from Alex Tobler, a kill from Korbyn Koerner and Madison Federmeyer and a service ace by Liz Susitko which forced a Thunder timeout. Despite attempts by the hosts to mount a comeback, the Bulldogs put the set to bed with a 25-20 win.

Set two went much differently, as Trine actually led a majority of the stanza, with the score knotted several times. Adrian saw its first lead at 13-12 behind a Federmeyer kill, controlling the lead by two points for several plays. The set was close all the way up to the end, with the Bulldogs winning by the required margin of two, going on a three-point run at the end to do so.

The third and fourth sets were won by Trine (25-21 and 25-19), forcing a tie-breaking fifth set, which also seemed to go in favor of the Thunder (15-3).
