Adrian Drops Conference Contest at Home

ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Adrian College women's volleyball dropped a conference matchup at home to Albion College on Saturday.

THE BASICS

Final Score: Albion 3, Adrian 1 (25-15, 12-25, 24-26, 22-25)

Location: Adrian, Mich. (Merillat Sport and Fitness Center)

Records: Albion 11-5 (2-0 MIAA), Adrian 4-8 (0-2 MIAA)

HOW IT HAPPENED

The first set went in favor of the Bulldogs, as they came up with a sizeable 25-15 win. Adrian trailed just once, as the score was 5-4 in favor of the Britons. AC strung together a two and four-point run to push the score to 10-6 and force an Albion timeout. The Brits were able to post three points before the Bulldogs went off again opening a 16-9 lead, forcing their second timeout of the set. Set one ended with a block for point 24, by Madison Federmeyer and Korbyn Koerner, which forced an attack error for the set point.

Set two saw the decline of Bulldog momentum as Albion was able to open a quick 6-1 lead, with AC's lone point coming on a block by Liz Susitko and Katelyn Bergman after an intense volley, forcing an Adrian timeout. The hosts were forced to take another timeout as the Britons extended their lead to 11-4 after a big win on a never-ending volley. The set came to an end with a great volley stopped by a block from the bad guys.

The Bulldogs trailed for a majority of the third set, but still ensured to make it competitive, forcing extra points as the score was 23-24 in the late-goings of the set.

Set four was also a competitive one, with the Britons winning by a thin margin of three points (25-22).

TOP DOGS

  • Leading the Bulldogs both offensive and defensively was Madison Federmeyer with a squad-best 13 kills, five block assists and one block solo. She also had four digs and two assists.
  • Liz Susitko performed well on defense, collecting 14 digs a second-best 4 block- assists. She also had a team-best 31 assists, with two kills and one service ace.
  • Also posting multiple block assists were Korbyn Koerner (4) and Katelyn Bergman (3). Koerner also had eight kills, while Bergman had two kills and one dig.
  • Owning a second-best 10 kills, while recording one block assist was Grace Welch.

UP NEXT

The Bulldogs return to the road on Wednesday as they travel to St. Mary's (Ind.) for a 7 p.m. conference matchup.
