KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Adrian College men's basketball team defeated the Kalamazoo Hornets on the road 92-83. The Bulldogs swept the Hornets this season as they defeated them earlier in the season at home. The Bulldogs saw three scorers with more than 20 points as Jordan Harris scored 21, Jeremy Kalonji scored 23, and Trey Helinski scored 23.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Bulldogs started the game with an 11-4 lead with the help of a set of three-point shots on their first three possessions. Kalamazoo responded with a run of its own to bring the Adrian lead to within three at 21-18. Helinski knocked down a three-pointer and Kaleb Swick followed it up with a layup to lead by eight. With the score at 48-40 in favor of Adrian, Harris hit from deep and Robert Warrick made two free throws to lead by 13. The Bulldogs went into halftime with a 13-point lead.

The second half started with the "Helinski Show" as he hit three, three-point baskets in three straight Bulldog possessions. With Adrian leading by 16, Kalamazoo went on a 7-0 run to bring the Bulldog lead to single digits. Kalamazoo kept scoring and brought the score to within five with just over five minutes to play. With the help of late free throws, Adrian was able to hold a nine-point lead and come away with a 92-83 victory.

Helinski finished the game with seven made three-point shots which is tied for eighth in school history for three-pointers in a single game. The last Bulldog player prior to this season to make seven three-point shots in one game was Steve Brooks on February 24, 2001 against Calvin.
