ADRIAN, Mich. – The Adrian College football team looks to keep the winning streak alive on Saturday on the road against the Flying Dutchman of Hope College. The Bulldogs hold a 2-1 record in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) with wins over the preseason favorite Albion College, and Alma College.
The Bulldogs are coming off a 36-21 victory after exploding for 29 points in the first half against Alma. Adrian recorded its first safety of the season to lead early followed by a pair of rushing touchdowns from
Steven Moses. Moses rushed for 172 yards last week on 31 attempts with two touchdowns. Wide receiver
Preston Smith was named Offensive MIAA Player of the Week with 11 receptions for 160 yards and two scores.
The defense will look to do what they did against Albion when they allowed just seven points in their 21-7 victory. Led by
Kyle Minder and
Brandon Kwiatkowski, the Bulldogs' defense has allowed 23.86 points per game this season while the offense has totaled 29.71 points per game this season.
Minder leads the team with 58 tackles this season followed by 54 from Kwiatkowski. The black and gold has recorded seven interceptions, 24 break ups, and 18 QB hurries this season. Adrian has also recorded 32 tackles for loss for a total of 96 yards on the year.
On offense,
Steven Moses continues to lead the running game, and has boosted his average yards per game up to 110.14 while recording six touchdowns this season for a total of 771 yards. Quarterback
Jack Wurzer continues to stay hot while throwing for more than 200 yards in his last two games.
Preston Smith leads Adrian in receiving with 26 receptions for 453 yards and three touchdowns.
So far this season, the Bulldogs have converted on 46.67% of third down conversions out of 90 attempts while holding their opponents to 35.23%. Adrian has converted on 52.63% of fourth down conversions and have scored on 23 of 28 trips to the red zone with 22 touchdowns.
The Bulldogs will kick off at 2:00 PM on the road at Hope College on Saturday, October 23 as they look to improve to 3-1 in MIAA play.
